Year 3

Mrs Ainscough – Teacher       Mrs Kiddiwala – Teaching assistant

Welcome to the Year 3 class page

Welcome to an exciting new year of learning in Year 3. Mrs Kiddiwala and I areenjoying getting to know your children. This term our class theme  is ‘There’s no place like home’. We are exploring local folktales, local heroes and finding out more about the area we live in.

In Science we will be learning about how to keep our bodies healthy and how our body works.

In Maths we are consolidating learning from KS1 and exploring the exciting world of larger numbers and what we can do with them. You can help your child by helping them to practice the basics of multiplying by 2, 5 and 10 at home. By the end of the year we need to be fluent in all our times tables. Small steps add up to good progress in Maths.

Moving into KS2 can be a challenging adventure for some children, with different timetables and larger playgrounds. Please let us know if your child is struggling or doesn’t understand the routine in their new class. We want them to be happy learners.

Please make sure that all clothing is clearly marked with your child’s name, it’s not easy to find a lost item amongst 25 other identical ones!

You can help by making sure you child has what they need for lessons. We will provide pencils, crayons and books, but all children will need a PE KIT in school.
