Private fostering is when a child or young person is looked after by
someone who is not a close relative for a period of 28 days or longer.
Proper arrangements need to be put in place for this, ideally before it
happens. This is simply to make sure that the child or young person
is being looked after properly, they are safe and their needs are being
met appropriately.
